Sustaining food production in forests
While many of our fruits and vegetables were first grown in forests, they may not be growing for much longer. With the serious threat of deforestation, forests will soon be on the verge of extinction. The Food and Agriculture Organisation of the United Nations estimated that in the coming decades, forests will continue to be lost to industrial and urban development. Soil erosion will destroy the fertile soil of forests. Without fertile soils, growing our food will increase difficulty.
However, something called sustainable agriculture could be a method that can help us sustain food production in agricultural areas already established. Sustainable agriculture is defined as "an integrated system of plant and animal production practices having a site-specific application that will last over the long term". Sustainable agriculture would:
Increased sustainability in forests would be highly beneficial to the human society. It would help us sustain food production, as well as saving one of the world's most important biomes. If the method of sustainable agriculture can be put into place effectively, it could make a real difference to our world and the long term future of humans.

Sustainable agriculture would:
- Satisfy nutritional needs of humans.
- Enhance the surrounding environment on which the agricultural land is based upon.
- Use the resources (non-renewable) effectively and efficiently.
- Maintain the economic output and input of farms and farmers.
- Improve the lifestyle of farmers and society.
